Day Training

Day training is perfect for clients with busy schedules or those that prefer one-on-one training for their dog. I come to your house when you’re busy or at work to train your dog then teach you the necessary skills to maintain the training for the long haul.

We start with an initial consultation to determine the training program and goals, fill out the paperwork, and schedule all of our sessions. Training sessions are 45-60 minutes long and occur 2-3 times a week. This focused one-on-one training is a great way for your dog to learn and become proficient in the commands.  Each session includes notes on what was taught, homework for owners, and support is always available via email/phone.  Each week will have a session with the owners to “transfer” what has been learned.

Day Training 1

Takes place in your home, yard, and neighborhood areas with little distractions to teach the following commands: look (eye contact), sit, down, stay, leave it, drop it, wait, come, and loose leash walking.

Day Training 2

Takes places in areas with more distractions, parks, commercial areas, or pet stores.  Commands include: look (eye contact), sit, down, stay, leave it, drop it, wait, come, and loose leash walking.

Remember that dogs aren’t able to generalize the way people do. This means that your dog may understand what “sit” means when you give him the command in your kitchen, but he may not understand that it means the same thing at the dog park. It’s important for them to learn commands in different locations, different distractions, different surfaces to show your dog has truly learned the command.

What is the cost?

• $60 for an initial consultation for all new clients
• Day training 1 – $625.00   (6 sessions total; 6 with your dog and 2 transfer sessions with you)
• Day training 2 $625.00 (6 sessions total; 6 with your dog and 2 transfer sessions with you)

Day Training available in Palm Desert, Indian Well, Bermuda Dunes, Indio, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta.  Gas/travel time surcharges apply to those outside 15 mile radius.  (75 cents per mile, round trip)

If you want me to train the dog, then train the people instead of training the people to train the dog, then Day Training is for you.
