Puppy Act 1

Puppies, Puppies, Puppies! Is there anything cuter? No, but is there anything more frustrating than puppies when it’s been 20 years since you’ve trained a puppy? Raising a healthy, happy puppy takes training and it’s always worth the effort and cost. I tell clients to “hang in there” during these early months and you’ll be rewarded with a wonderful dog for a lifetime.

Puppy Level 1 is perfect for puppies from 8 weeks to 20 weeks. Here you will learn how to house train your pooch, understand why there’s so much “biting and nipping” go on, how to use a crate and why crate training is important for so many reasons, start their socialization process, proper handling and appropriate play. Puppies need to learn their names and start paying attention to their owners so you can teach other commands that come in the basic training classes. Socialization for puppies means exposing your puppy to different people, places, noises, surfaces, other animals and make sure each encounter is a positive experience. This foundation will help your puppy enjoy his new life and learn to deal with the world. Because the first three months are the period when sociability outweighs fear, this is the best time for puppies to meet new people, experience new things and situations. If puppies are not properly socialized, you may end up having to try and change your dog’s emotional responses to a stimulus that they consider negative.  It’s much easier to socialize them properly from the beginning.

How does this magic work?

Sorry, it’s not really magic, but a process where I come to your home each week for an hour for six weeks, explain the learning process of dogs,  teach both you and your dogs what to do, the proper techniques plus a little “homework”, handouts and support.  Puppies will learn to respond to their name, sit, down, stay, come plus work on puppy behaviors like jumping, how to walk on a leash.

What is the cost?

Six One Hour Classes (one per week) scheduled at your home: $450.00
